Score Bars are a delicious treat that can be made for any occasion. They are the perfect combination of sweet and salty, not to mention they are super easy to make. This recipe consists of common ingredients laying around the house, which can make it a perfect option for a last-minute dessert!
Supplies needed:
•1-2 sleeves of plain saltine crackers
•1 stick of butter
•1 cup of brown sugar
•¾ cup of milk chocolate chips
You will also need:
•A baking sheet
•Parchment paper
•A saucepan
•Measuring cups
Step 1- Start off by preheating your oven to 400F degrees.
Step 2- Line your baking sheet with parchment paper then begin to layout rows of saltine crackers, leaving no gaps in between, and set aside.
Step 3-
In a medium saucepan place your stick of butter and let melt. Once butter is melted add in 1 cup of packed brown sugar, stir until combined.
Step 4-
Once the brown sugar is melted begin to pour the mixture over the sheet of crackers and spread evenly to the edges, making sure to cover all the crackers.
Step 5-
Place the caramel-covered crackers into the preheated oven, 3-4 minutes, or until the caramel starts to bubble.
Step 6-
Once the caramel has started to bubble, sprinkle ¾ cup of chocolate chips over the caramel layer and place back into the oven.
Step 7-
Once the chocolate chips start to melt remove the baking sheet and turn off the oven. Start spreading the melted chocolate chips over the later of caramel and crackers, making sure to get the whole surface covered.
Step 8-
Place in the fridge for an hour to let the layers solidify. Then break apart, serve, and enjoy.
